A cake disasterr
Duo show, performance and publication with fellow artist and life-long friend Carmen Gray in SET Studios, Lewisham (London). August 2021.
PUBLICATION
What started with finding a cake cookbook that was about as cute as it was outrageous has been distorted and transformed into a slice of our own everyday life fantasy. An assortment of our melting reveries, standing jokes, recurrent dreams and revolutionary and artistic references. The book originally addressed the ideal 50’s housewife, including instructions on how to bake a cake and still have time to clean the house. By warping and rebuilding these we attempt to bombard an unacceptable discourse that is sadly still present nowadays.
Including texts from Raoul Vaneigem, Betty Crocket, Andrea Abreu, Guy Debord, Gertrude Stein, Allan Kaprov, Derek Jarman, Georges Perec, Gil J. Wolman, Destiny’s Child and Lefebvre.
Printed in @terry.bleu First edition of 100 20 pages A5 Riso in 4 colors
PERFORMANCE/OPENING
During the Spring and Summer of 2021, a carefully selected list of guests received the invitation in their postboxes. A mysterious teaser for an unapologetic collective performance that took the form of a tea ceremony. An unusually wild one.
